Happy Birthday Sister-in-Law

Good morning, hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. It's pouring down with rain here in Portsmouth and I can't craft as we're staying with the In-Laws. So just a quick post from me then we're headed out into the weather so I can try and locate a warm maternity sweatshirt/coat to cover my baby bump. I can't just buy a normal one in a bigger size as where I was so sick at the beginning I'm smaller now than I was before I got pregnant and my bump is so big already (I'm 5 months) that to get one to fit it would hang off my shoulders and over my hands as I'm quite short too.

Anyhoo, enough waffle, here is my card which follows this weeks challenge at Sketch & Stash (see below for sketch):

Patchwork Bunch of Balloons Card (2)  Patchwork Bunch of Balloons Card (4)    Patchwork Bunch of Balloons Card (1)

The image is Patchwork Bunch of Balloons from Lili of the Valley and has been coloured with ProMarkers and FlexMarkers. Patterned papers are from the Crate Paper Random 6x6 pad and the plain card is from my stash, all edges have been distressed with a mix of Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar Distress Ink. The image has been cut out with a Nestie and mounted on a square parenthesis X-Cut die cut. The flowers have been cut with an MFT flower die available from Dies to Die for. The ribbon and pearls are from my stash.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Ice Cream and Pickles

I’m not talking about my cravings but this gorgeous image from Saturated Canary. The weirdest my cravings have got so far are cheese and beetroot sandwiches.

Some of close friends of ours (who also work for the same company as my hubby) are expecting a little boy in four weeks time and today is the Mummy-to-be’s last day at work today before starting her maternity leave. This is the card I made her…

Ice Cream and Pickles (1)

The image has been coloured with ProMarkers and FlexMarkers. The corner swirl and straight swirl stamps are from Lili of the Valley. Patterned paper is from First Edition Blank Canvas 6x6 pad and the textured card is from Core'dinations. All edges have been distressed with Weathered Wood Distress Ink. The sentiment is a Peel Off (OMG don't think I've used one of those for a while), on a little tab cut with the side of an X-Cut Square Parenthesis die. Pearls, bling and ribbon from stash.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

We are off to stay with the in-laws this weekend to celebrate Sister-in-Law's Birthday so I better get going with the packing ( and I need to finish her card as well).

Thanks for stopping by.

Cool Britannia from Kanban

As some of you know back in March/April of this year I became part of the first UK Design Team for Kanban Crafts. I started creating and my cards have been shown on Kanban Crafts Facebook page but due to the small matter of a growing baby bump and the dreaded Morning Sickness I have neglected to share my cards here on my blog. Well today that’s going to change and I’m going to start sharing the cards with you each week.

Here is a card I made using the fabulous Cool Britannia collection.

My Sentiment Exactly at PCJ

Morning everyone I’m finally starting to join in with some of my DT commitments again…. So I’m here to share my card for the new challenge at Paper Crafting Journey where the theme this week is ‘My Sentiment Exactly!’

  Sentiment Card (3)

The challenge ends on 26th of September 12pm BST and you must remember to use a sentiment on your project.

We are being sponsored by Digital Delights by Louby Lou who are offering the winner a $5 gift certificate to use in their store.

My papers, card and sentiment are all from Kanban, the numbers are from an old See-D’s set, the small butterfly punch is from Hobbycraft, the flourish is a MFT Die, the Phlox flowers are a CC Designs die and have been cut from felt (both Dies from Dies to Die For and the lace and pearls are from my stash.

LIM….at last!

I have been trying to make a card for this weeks ‘Foliage’ Challenge at LIM since Sunday and would you believe all I had to show for my efforts until tonight was five or six disasters. And no I’m not kidding, they were really that bad.

I think my trouble was I was trying to combine to many techniques, colours, stamps, etc, and I was just over egging the pudding. So tonight I pulled out a Clarity corner stamp and stuck to a nice symmetrical layout and here is what I came up with…

Clarity Holly Card (1)

…I just hope the Holly counts as foliage.

The base is a 15cm square Kraft card blank. The sentiment (from a Hero Arts set) was stamped in Graphite Black Brilliance Ink and then the Holly corner was stamped using Memento Cottage Ivy Ink. The berries were coloured with a Whispers Brush Marker and the sentiment was highlighted with a clear At You Spica Marker. A few red gems and my first completed Christmas card of 2012!

I’m trying to blog my cards as I make them at the moment as otherwise I tend to make things and then weeks later find I’ve forgotten to blog them, but tonight this means it’s got a bit late and I can hear my bed calling. So goodnight and thanks for stopping by.

And Another

Afternoon all last night I couldn’t resist digging out my favourite Kanban Floral Stamp and having another go at this weeks LIM challenge.

I was in desperate need of an early night so thought I would blog it quickly while I have my lunch.

Flourish Card

I’ve stamped the image once up the right way and once upside down at the top of the card using shades of pink from a Color Box Q set. The brown circle is cut from a scrap and the white circle has been edged with pale pink ink and a smidge of Walnut  Stain Distress Ink. The pearls are also from Kanban and I’ve coloured them with an Umber ProMarker.

Have a good afternoon all and thank you for stopping by.

Introducing the Sarah Hurley Lookbook

The team have been working on a big secret for quite a while now and at last we can reveal the Sarah Hurley Lookbook:

The debut issue of the Sarah Hurley Lookbook brings you more information on the newest collections, inspirational projects from Sarah and the fantastic Design Team and tips and tutorials! You can read the first issue here.

Unfortunately as I have been out of action for a few months I couldn’t join in and create any projects, but there is a card of mine made using the fabulous Craft Basics Kit. The projects by the rest of the team are stunning and cover scrapbooking, cards, altered items and much much more.

We all hope you enjoy it and Sarah would love to hear your feedback either on the blog post here or on her Facebook page.

Thanks for stopping by

Another Try at Pink and Brown

Good Morning on this fairly sunny Tuesday morning. I’m here to share another card I finished last night for this weeks Pink and Brown Challenge at LIM.

It’s funny really after I made yesterdays LIM card I wished I’d centred the Nestie shape and Chrissie mentioned just that in her comment lol. So, this one is very central and so much more me.

IMG_6103 IMG_6104

I’ve used a Kraft card base. Nesties to cut the aperture and circle. The flowers and leaves are cut using an MFT die and scraps of textured cardstock. The butterfly are again cut from scraps using a CC Designs Die and gems and pearls are from Kanban.

Thanks for stopping by

Pink and Brown at Less is More

Now don’t faint with shock, but I have actually been back into the craft room and made some cards. (See previous post for why I was out of action for about 3-4 months).

I was really inspired by the colour theme set by Chrissie and Mandi this week at LIM, so last night I sat down and had a little play. I think the break may have done me good as I made three cards that I am actually quite pleased with, and if you have visited my blog before you will know that I am actually very self critical, so this doesn’t happen that often.

Here is the first card:

 Pink Felt Flower Card (2)

I’ve gone for a double dose of pink on the felt flowers and they were cut using a CC Designs Phlox Flower Die. My brown is the Kraft scalloped die cut, the Cinnamon Stickles around the frame and my gems which I coloured with an Umber ProMarker.

I have some house work to do this afternoon and Hubby is off work today so while Little One is an Nanny’s house we might take a rare visit to the cinema.

See you all later.

Lisa
